Re: Wise words and Inspiring quotations...

I found this quotation many years ago on a notice board when going through a particularly bad time. Reading it seemed to help ..

LEARNING
After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul
You learn that love doesn't mean leaning
And company doesn't mean security
You begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts
And presents aren't promises.
And you begin to accept your defeats
with the grace of an adult and not the grief of a child
You learn to build all your roads on today
Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for your plans
After a while you learn that even sun shine burns
If you get too much.
So plant your own garden, decorate your own soul
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you will learn that you really can endure
That you really are special
That you really do have worth.
So live to learn and know yourself
In doing so, you will learn to live.

My grandfather used to tell me 'Nothing very very good & nothing very very bad ever lasts for very very long'
This used to make my grandmother and my mother a little annoyed as they said it wasn't true but the older I got I realised its often quite true lol

"Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see" - Benjamin Franklin

"As long as people believe in absurdities they will continue to commit atrocities" - Voltaire

"And I hear them saying you'll never change things
And no matter what you do it's still the same thing
But it's not the world that I am changing
I do this so this world will know
That it will not change me"
- Garth Brooks

Re: Wise words and Inspiring quotations...

There were many words of wisdom in the construction industry, most of which are unprintable, but one that I always enjoyed was the briclayer's motto, "Let your eye be your guide, and let your money be the last thing you part with...

A couple of others here from aviation, from the time we flew our own Cessna,

"There is nothing more useless than the runway behind you",and when we complained about the bad weather it was said that "Always preferable to be down here wishing you were up there, rather than being up there wishing you were down here"!

Do what you want and say what you think
Cause those who mind, dont really matter
And those who matter dont really mind.
