Downton Abbey

Looking forward to Downton starting back again this weekend. I really enjoy that programme.

Re: Downton Abbey

Look out for a cameo performance by Dame Kiri ti Kanawa as Dame Nellie Melba. We went to see Dame Kiri in concert here last year and she told the audience she was flying straight from there to England to film her part.

Yes Mups - this is the only drama of its sort, that I do like - a good mix of posh .... and hard working commoners

Re: Downton Abbey

I enjoyed last nights programme but thought Mary's acting was terrible. Am I the only one who thinks her voice is very monotonous?

I am trying to think back as where we have seen the new Lady's Maid before? Did she have a relationship with Tom Branson in a previous series? They all seemed to know her from the past.

Re: Downton Abbey

She tried very hard to have a relationship with him and made him feel embarrassed about his new status, something Mrs Hughes did not approve of at all. She made him see things differently and sacked the maid.

Thanks for that Julie I'm sure it will all come back to me as it unfolds.

Re: Downton Abbey

Downton didn't disappoint - the only thing that was a shame was the new nanny, they should have made more of her situation but, she was there one minute - gone the next ....
Penelope Wilton is a scene stealer for me, she is so engrossing, fabulous actress - so natural .....
Remember her playing the wife of Martin - Ever Decreasing Circles - shes a gem ....

Re: Downton Abbey

Wow that was quite an episode, poor poor Anna, and so well acted too !

Shame we didn't hear more of Kiri one of my favourite bits of music and they cut it short !
