One good thing that the builder did to my house was to fit a decent boiler. I live in a small village which does not have mains gas, so it's oil heating (or some people use LPG). It's a Grant "Vortex" outside boiler that's very efficient and has a built in thermal store so that the boiler desn't have to fire up to provide (very) hot water.Re: Home Insulation
Here's the house. Originally built about 1840 and extended in 1896. The insulation really works, but I found out that I also needed to ensure that the ventillation was correct. If you over-insulate you can cause pockets of stagnant air and mould to grow.
