Camera Repaired

I recently sent off my Canon G16 camera to be repaired because it was playing up. I got it back today and it seems to be working fine.

In the package with the repaired camera was a box marked, "Old Parts". They replaced the top of the camera which I guess makes sense as this is the bit with the most used controls on it.

The camera looks like new now.

I am still considering a second camera but I still have to decide which one however I am very glad to have this one back in my sweaty little hands.

Re: Camera Repaired

So Bruce, the question is .... do you or do you not buy another camera?

IMO that depends on ...

1. Do you have the dosh lying around, how much do you love the latest tech, how much do you cherish sexy camera gear, how fascinating is that 200 page manual?

2. ... and, after your other thread on the subject, I've narrowed it down to a single advantage of the other camera you're considering: Print size, or maybe you don't print but the larger sensor with more MPs allows you to crop your images by something like 50%.

I haven't decided on what to get yet. I definitely want a second camera.

In my opinion there are no 'cheap' cameras the mobile phone has seen to that but reasonable quality cameras are very affordable. My second camera will definitely be one of those we have discussed elsewhere.

As for prints yes I do get them made - here is a quick flash photo of one in my lounge (it's a bit glarey because it is semi matt taken straight on with flash) but I think it shows that the Canon G16 can and does blow up fairly well even onto canvas (the record player bottom left hopefully gives you a sense of scale but it is 1m wide cropped from a 4:3 photo).

I am not fussed about the specs, you get what you pay for, but there are certain things that I want that has been discussed but if it can produce prints like that above with the bigger sensor then I am happy.
