Law v aJustice???

Tommorrow we see the upcoming battle of our legal
system versus our Justice system!
We may believe they are the same thing? But they are not!
Reason being that a law could be legal but at the same
time not just? Particularly if the law when it was enacted
was not sent for scrutiny to test for being just!
This is going to be an important battle tommorrow a lot
depends on the outcome??
Imo the judges will opt to put the ball back into the political
court rather than deal with this hot potato??
I hope l am wrong!

We will see whether Justice prevails, or is a complete Ass.

I think our justices will dodge the issue SG and pass it
back to the politicians?
What l dont understand is that it was stated at one time
that Boris had suspended POSHOC for four days only?
And that POSHOC was going for a four week recess?
Now they are claiming Boris shut them down for five weeks!
When did things change?

Hi

The Law Lords are looking at the Law, which is not the same as Justice.

Exactly my point Swimmy!!
So it all comes down to the INDEPENDENCE of the judiciary
Solly?
So who pays these judges? Are they funded by an untouchable
Government grant? Like royalty! Or directly by the litigants?
If it is the latter then surely it would expose the judges to
bias?

Hi

Our Judges are paid out of the Public Purse.

They are completely independent. and in that we are very lucky, in many Countries they are political appointees.

Boris may get what he wants, he may not.

They look solely at the Law and are not afraid of upsetting anyone.

If the Law needs to be changed, that is down to Parliament, not the Judges.

If they rule against Boris, Parliament starts again.

It is now Party Conference Season, so MPs are away.

Boris could prorogue Parliament again after it returns, ahead of the Queens Speech for a shorter period and he could do it so that Parliament is closed on Brexit Day.

I think you miss my point Swimmy?
You say they look solely at the law?
I thought they were concerned with justice??
As you stated in your post earlier justice and law are two
different things???

Re: Law v aJustice???

What I am not understanding is how they can tell absolute lies with a straight face. We haven't all forgotten John major preroging parliament to stop them debating MPs expenses. But they are saying this 5 days or so is first time it's ever happened. I could easily find film of it happening with John major starring centre stage.

Your last point Swimmy about it being party conference time
means that parliament isnt prorouged at the moment but is
actually on recess? So what is all this nonsense ahout Boris
shutting down bparliament for six weeks whatever it is?
Surely the people saying this are lying??
