Re: ladyboys...

It does make me laugh some men's reactions to transgender people.

Over 40 years ago I used to work part time as a maintenance tech in strip clubs and porn cinemas around Sydney, it was a lucrative occupation being mostly cash in hand work.

I would guess that 20% (ish) of the "girls" dancing in these clubs were actually transgender men, it is amazing what suitable lighting, pubic hair and some tape in the arse crack can achieve.

Some of the same men that got their rocks off watching these "girls" would probably have said some very unkind things about men dressing as women.

There were always plenty of Near Misses, for sailors, when I was a lad!

Calcutta (as it was) had huge numbers.

Great fun to get First trippers involved.

I can't speak for anyone else Dex, but I meant it when I said 'not my thing.'

What's that programme on telly, something about La Rue (or something like that)
I have to switch that off, so I very much doubt I would like the ladyboy thing either.

I am not sure what it is, but I think I find them a bit creepy, bit like some people feel about clowns, don't they.
It's like I am looking at something that's not real, and I don't know what the 'real' is, so I don't like it.
I also think it is something to do with the wildly exaggerated make-up that no woman would ever wear, that makes them look creepy too.

Sorry, but that's how I feel. They give me the willies . . . Oooer . .

Fair enough Mups. Each to their own.

Topically - Karen from Finance was on the ABC.

I thought she was funny anyway.

It's a sexist stereotype look. Nothing to do with being a woman but everything to do with male notions of femininity.

And completely different when eg French and Saunders dress up as men, or even when females dress up as males in pantomines.

Re: ladyboys...

It’s true, we cannot really judge until we’ve seen something.

I know when l was asked to go to see Ken Dodd in a theatre locally, l was filled with dread and went reluctantly.

How wrong l was to think that way. It was one of the best shows l had ever been to and l laughed all night.

I was also filled with awe, that a man of 89 years of age could stand on a stage and reel off joke after joke with no hesitation.

I hardly think so, Annie. It's a grossly exaggerated gay ideal of femininity, I would say.
