Re: The Windrush Debacle

Now home office are back in the news being accused of throwing away all the paperwork including passports of those that came here, despite being told that would make it more difficult to identify them.
If that's true how exactly were they to apply for citizenship ?

Is home office actually fit for purpose ?

The operative word here is acused .
It doesn't make it fact.
The Home office cannot 'throw away ' passports .
The passport is a legal document and it belongs to the holder .

We all need to fight for these UK citizens. Has the government kept any records to prove it's case.

Re: The Windrush Debacle

They did not keep their own records and refused to accept a passport with evidence of the records they did not keep. Apparently one of these people produced the original right to remain stamp in her passport but was told that it was not sufficient. They have refused to accept income tax records. They expect people to have kept bank statements and pay slips from 50 years ago.

How long do schools keep records? Many schools have closed down in that time and new ones built.

Sorted out, but when? Too late for some already.

They were not accepting schools info before. But if say someone came as a teen, married young and was a housewife maybe working from home or cash in hand how can they prove anything ? The fact is that the home office are negligent in not keeping records.
