Braised ox-tail, already simmering away in bottom of oven, to be served with assorted veg and mash later tonight.

Potato and celeriac mash with iceberg lettuce and spring onion salad and hard boiled egg.

Meat eater is eating out today meeting after work making him late.

Funnily enough, yesterday afternoon there was a hairy bikers programme on in which they made a spicy chicken ball soup, and they commented chicken broth/soup was frequently called 'Jewish Penicillin' and that some scientists had done some research, the conclusion of which was that it actually DOES help alleviate the symptoms of a cold. Howzat then? Forget the scientific details but it was something to do with the way the aroma and heat stimulates the nasal hairs and reduces a runny nose and snuffles. So there you go.

Yes that is quite right Daisymay.

My Mother-in-Law was a School Cook at the Jewish School in Stokenewington. N16. So that is where I got the recipe from.

Got some potato and celeriac mash left from yesterday so will reheat that and have cabbage and leeks with sausages (veggie for me and pork for meat eater).

So far today have had one cup of coffee, and have no idea what dinner will be, however am just off into town to have a look see what is on offer.
