Hot flushes ladies ?

I have been premenopausal (I think that is what the GP said) for a year or so and having hot flushes which while annoying I could live with as they were just flushing/ going red and sweating so nothing life threatening.
But last two days I seem to have hit a new stage when I have a flush I feel really ill, faint dizzy and actually passed out at work last night.

I have an appointment at the GP next week for a medication review so will see if I get this into the conversation too but just wondered if this normal or something to worry about ?

Learned a lesson sit down when it starts from last night's fall.

If you get hot flushes it means your loo has been plumbed to the wrong pipe.

They can make you feel that way Julie - I have had them for 16 years - early menopause for me .......

Oh gosh that is a long time Patsy ! reassuring I am not alone though as it took me a bit by surprise.

Have you found any thing helps ? I find a hot water bottle kept in the freezer is nice when I get a flush, obviously didn't have that at work though.

I have tried the water bottle with water used from the fridge - for the nerve damage heat - gave me cramps and then chilblains - but I will have to go back to it when the warm weather arrives, so have ordered medication to hopefully counteract the cramps

As for the flushes - have tried alternative remedies - but you shouldn't take them long term and when you stop - flushes return so you are just delaying the end of it, best to persevere if you can to see it through ....

You could try one of those gel filled things, I have one for my eyes when I've been reading too much, it stays cold so ideal for hot foreheads/faces, obviously not as cool as anything in the freezer but may help.
I used to wrap kitchen roll around my neck as well, under my hair, to catch the drips when it got really bad, usually at work, too..
I just used to walk around saying 'another one' They knew what I meant..

That's a good idea will look into that too, I think when it happens at work it's worse isn't it you can't hide it and pretend it isn't happening and all a bit embarrassing. I know the Pakistani lady working with me was quite cross I had allowed the men see me with such a woman's problem - I rather unkindly I suppose thought just you wait lady you are only 5 years younger than me it's creeping up on you too

Re: Hot flushes ladies ?

They never go Julie. They just get a lot better as time goes on. One of my sisters who was in her eighties still had them but only mild.
I have a little hand fan and a bedside one for nights. Works a treat.
You can now buy a cooling spray for the Summer. This should work on your face.
