Freecycle trauma

I put two items up locally
One single bed and matress in exc condition and a Hoover large load capacity tumble dryer...both free to a good home

The bed was a breeze..One request and the lady is picking it up tomorrow morning
The dryer...many people want it.. and they have all emailed me with their separate tales of woe or neediness

I have 5 more days to decide who has it
I had no idea I'd have to choose!!!
I thought it worked on a first come first serve basis
My only other option is to withdraw it but i dont want to do that either!

who knew giving stuff away could be so traumatic?!!

Some folks don't, it is hard to tell Rhian.
Maybe just put names in a hat.

Hi

Give it to me, I will collect and sell it for you and give you the money to spend on cheese.

Re: Freecycle trauma

I used to advertise the stuff I wanted to get rid of on Freecycle, but it wasn't worth the hassle. One idiot expected me to deliver the goods to them some distance away as they didn't own a car, TOUGH!

Re: Freecycle trauma

I gave up on Freecycle after Id been let down so many times Rhian.

Dont assume this woman will turn up tomorrow just because she said she would!

I ALWAYS take a telephone number from anyone who is interested now before I do any giving away of my phone number or address etc... that way Im in control.

I always used to choose the first one too, but it is a dilemma!!

Gumtree is almost as bad...but at least if youve got a number you can message them and say "What happened to you!!"
The last chap replied "Oh my god Im so sorry I completely forgot!!"
When he did come round he was absolutely charming

Re: Freecycle trauma

I have listed quite a few things on Freecycle and have to say I have never had any problems. I have always based it on first come first served and normally email to say if they have not collected by a certain date , it will go the next person.

Re: Freecycle trauma

I always make it clear first come first served, and any tear jerkers will be ignored. Otherwise you just can't chose and as someone else said they ding turn up anyway.
