We men tend not to have conversations with our wives by virtue that we can never get a word in edgeways. We experienced married men learn to listen to the constant babble and single out the odd word from time to time then nod our heads sagely as if we are taking notice. After around ten minutes off waffling, we have sorted out the wheat from the chaff and have worked out the crux of the conversation so that when there is a pause in the proceedings indicating that a response is required, we can answer in the required manner.
