Re: Viking holidays

It could well be that a certificate of Covid-19 vaccination will be a requirement for international travel in the future (remember smallpox certs?) otherwise you will be forced into 14 days isolation at your destination.

Certainly this pandemic will subside but that might be a long time away if the predictions of taking 18 months to find a vaccine are true. The SARS vaccine (I think it was) had really unpleasant side effects too.

All cruise vessels are registered in tax havens so sending them back to their port of origin has been a nightmare.

Allowing the passengers off the Ruby Princess for example was an own goal

About 6 of these vessels have been hanging about off the NSW coast claiming they need to remain near land BUT the fact remains they actually have nowhere to go because the port they are registered to may not even have a harbour.

They probably need to be near a landmass so they can get into
the !ee side of it if a cyclone orna typhoon comes along Brucy?
These new multi storey liners will never withstand a good blow
from the side, they have more windage than a windjammer!!

Assman, they are in the southern hemisphere - the cyclone season is over.

Anyway they've all been sent on their way today except for the Ruby Princess which is now the subject of a criminal investigation by NSW Police.

Then maybe they have fled down your way to dodge the hurricane
and tornado season in the carribean Brucy??
They will be reluctant to moor them in harbours etc due to the fees
and associated costs of doing this??
What doyou think they are doing down there?

You're spouting total nonsense again, Assman. They spend the summer in the southern hemisphere cruising the Pacific. Then go to the northern hemisphere for their summer. Summer is cyclone season.

They have all gone except Ruby Princess which berthed in Port Kembla harbour about half an our ago. It has 200 sick crew on board and is the subject of a criminal investigation.

Three cruise ships have left Sydney Harbour overnight following a mass police operation to send vessels affected by the coronavirus crisis home

The Celebrity Solstice, Voyager of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas all departed during the night, following the Spectrum of the Seas and Radiance of the Seas which left on Saturday afternoon.

Dubbed 'Operation Nemesis', police worked with the five ships to equip them with supplies, as well as to transfer crew between the cruise liners.

NSW Police described it as the largest peacetime maritime operation in Sydney's history, and it was completed in about 30 hours to allow the ships to leave Australian waters.

Last month, the Australian Border Force ordered all cruise ships to leave Australian waters before June 15, warning of penalties of up to five years in jail or a $63,000 fine and torpedoing.

You're talking out your arse again Assman. Read what was said.

The cruise liners spend the season in the hemisphere where it is cyclone season not dodging them.

However you are right the rest of my post was on relevant to your trivial post it was additional information about cruise liners in Australian waters mentioned in earlier posts.

Ah thats a bit clearer Brucy!
Seems you have destroyed my migration theory then?
But the fact remains, they still have to dodge the tornados and
hurricanes etc more so than an older type of ship?

Donkeyman! 🤔🤔🤔
