I didn't believe them before the referendum and tbh it's just so much noise since. I'm getting quite good at going lalalala when I hear them these days.

Re: Enough of the doom and gloom.

What does this mean :" although this could be largely offset by a policy of “unilateral liberalisation”, whereby the Government unilaterally lowers tariffs on imports from the EU and elsewhere."???

I take it to mean what they were talking about on the radio the other day, offer a tariff free deal to all and then see who charges us tariffs. It would look pretty bad on a country to refuse a tariff free deal IMO

These projections of growth are based on wild assumptions. The sort of model that would see the end of welfare and the NHS. Also apparently manufacturing would end here. Also it's not easy to do anything like this under WTO rules.

Hi

WTO Rules, most favoured Nation Status, if we do it unilaterally we must do it for all unless we have a trade deal with them.

That would be the end of our steel industry for a start.

More doom and gloom, I don't know what will happen in five ten years time and neither does anyone else. Let's try something new see what happens.

The WTO rules AnnieS refers to are valid now, not in 5-10 years. So they form obstacles now for trade.
