Can you legally rape your wife?

or partner for that matter I guess.

In the ongoing saga of Donald Trump [he needs a name change] one newsaper in USA has dragged out a story of DT's ex wife claiming he raped her and she was hushed up with 14 million dollars - nice deal.

Not sure about the law in UK these days - but is it legally possible to rape your wife? or to put it more succinctly - if your wife claims you raped her can she be protected legally and compensated??

Yes - since the 1970s - it is possible to be accused/convicted of rape of a wife/husband/partner.

If your wife / partner says no and you ignore them, then yes its rape, dont care what some legal lout says.

Reminds me of Soames and Irene in the Forsyte Saga. That was in the late Nineteenth Century. The law is certainly different now.

Surely a woman wouldn't be allowed to accuse her husband of rape without some sort of proof i.e. medical evidence of assault, it cannot be that easy for a man to be accused of raping his wife? what about his word against hers in a court of law? Does that still stand?
If it turns out that a man can be charged of such a heinous crime simply on his wife's word then all I can say is "God help the poor man" if he has a vindictive wife !!

Please don't misunderstand me. I think the book should be thrown at bullying husbands and partners who believe that because they are the stronger of the two, that gives him the right to rape his wife/partner even after she has said No !
Lock the b........ up and throw away the key .

I think the standards of evidence are very much the same usually a man who would do this has shown other bullying ways too so that may be taken as evidence of a general propensity to commit this crime. I know one woman was able to show his previous 2 partners as evidence he had a previous record of doing it.

Puzzling to me.
Mind you I saw him being interviewed on American last a few weeks back and I have say[even though I wish I didn't] he has a certain charisma.

Oh God gal - were you a little tipsy ?
I've seen 'many' programmes with Trump leading the way, he had no charm in any of them
Could be as he's running for President - he's had lessons in charm and turning it on for the people
