Re: Baby Names

Some right nutters around when it comes to baby names.

140 names only because of a ruling as they wanted 270 ...

Re: Baby Names

I like old fashioned names hence all my dogs have had names like Elsie. Betty, Katie, Mollie, Rosie, Duncan ........

My name was popular year I was born but you don't see many Julie's older than me or younger, I blame Julie Andrews who was popular that year !

It's OK as names go but I hate when people shorten it, I am not Jules, Ju etc and refuse to answer to it.
Oddly my Nan never used it and always called me Sylvia - never found out why but I was forever Sylvia to her.

I'm with you on that Meg, I think my parents named me after the Queen's youngest daughter at that time I much prefer Mags

Only my son-in-law occasionally calls me Margaret but that's when he's being cheeky

Re: Baby Names

Whenever I tell people my name on the phone they always then call me Shelley.

I always thought my name was old fashioned and would never allow for it to be shortened. That is until my nephew called me Shirls and then it was alright.

Still don't like it though but cannot think of anything else I would like.

My youngest boy is Daniel, the oldest David. When I was young I liked the name Dylan. I'm glad now I didn't choose it. Unfortunate moniker for a bunch of American serial killers.

I was named for actor Leslie Howard. Hated it when I was a kid. All the popular kids were Maria's, Marie's and Ellen's. I grew to like it eventually. Leslie Howard was also foxy for his time
