I can well believe it we are seeing resistant head lice in schools for a while. Luckily not had lice here mainly I think because I use a tea tree shampoo on Grace and that seems to be keeping her free of the things.

A friends granddaughter had them and her mum used hair gel and then combed them out.

Beats the old days when youngsters heads were painted with an evil smelling concoction then wrapped in a voluminous towel for all the school to see.

In those days if you caught nits..The whole world knew

It's different now anyway as kids and parents just seem to treat it as something they will all have at some time. None of the stigma that used to be when we were kids.

That has just forced me to look through all the Tumblr naked selfies and I did not notice even one head-lice. Perhaps I was looking in the wrong places

Re: Selfies and Head Lice

Great that they have new treatments. Shame if the nits are
becoming immune.
My Granddaughter kept bringing them home when they lived
in Manchester The Mothers all said it was from one girl and
you could see them on her hair. The Mother of this child
never seemed to do anything about it and again the kids on
her table got them. There must be cause for making this
Mother do something about it.

On another note about nits. I remember getting them when
my hair was really long. My Mother went up the wall and I
felt like a leper. I went from really long hair to the shortest
ever as my Mum in her anger cut chunks off of my hair and
didn't even style it. I was pulled up at school by my teacher
who wanted to know who had cut my hair as she said it
was jagged at the back. Everyone knew I had nits.
The thing my Mother never seemed to know about nits is they
live as close to the scalp as they can so they can suck blood
So cutting the length off does not stop them.

I think that's why not long after I had alopecia and my hair
never really came back to the thick beautiful locks I had before.
I have never got over the trauma.

Jolly good maybe it will deter a few people from this pointless activity...

Re: Selfies and Head Lice

Oh my , another flash back memory comes to mind. Spent a few days with grandaughters , cuddling up all the time. I get a phone call day later " mum, the girls have got nits , check your hair " .

I go to the chemist after scratching for ages , ask chemist to look in my hair as can't tell as live alone , scratch scratch, nope says chemist but buy this treatment and nit comb in case and for the future. I keep it handy now just in case . Scratch scratch

Yes I remember nit nurse at school , who used the same comb on all the heads

Re: Selfies and Head Lice

My mother always took it as a personal affront that anyone would dare to suggest or even look for a nit, let alone NITS, on her off spring.

It always amazed me that the nit nurse was brave enough to look through my curly locks and lord knows what my mother would have done to her, had one ever been found.
