Pension Service doing my head in

Right, I get Pension Credit, not a vast amount to be sure, but it makes a difference. Today, 29th June, I received a letter dated 24th June.

And it informs me that

From 18 Feb I will get X amount per week

Then from 8th April this will be reduced by the sum of 32p; then two weeks later, from 22nd April this will be reduced again by a further 23p. These changes are apparently because my works pension has increased slightly.

The letter finishes by saying that from March 10th of NEXT year the payment will increase by £6.53.

My head is now spinning as a result of the incorrect tenses, among others things.

Re: Pension Service doing my head in

No help to you but I was informed 2 years ago I hadn't paid enough tax so had to pay another £5 a week to catch up. We drew our belts in and did it then last October I was told I owed a further £3000 - I had barely earned that much so how I could owe it I couldn't work out.

Much work by the CAB and many letters later I have a cheque for £169 that I had over paid.

Scared to spend it in case they say they are wrong again.

Its called benefit limit. I suffer from the same trouble. One penny over and they take it off you The benefits go up in April and that when you get your letter about what you are getting for the year. Makes you laugh when you consider that the Bankers were allowed to get away with Billions and we cant have an extra penny.

Julie darlin' - you can SAFELY spend it!!! - if they subsequently ask for it back, TOUGH!!! it becomes an overpayment resulting from an office error and by virtue of s.71(4) Social Security Administration Act 1992, overpayments attributable to 'office errors' are NOT recoverable from the claimant.
