They will love their new tax policy and their green deal

They have to pay for Poland to become carbon neutral in about 15 years. Try not to laugh

Hi

All speculation.

We will know if we have prepared properly in a few weeks.

The decision to leave was a Democratic one.

The method and success or failure of leaving is solely down to the Government.

You are correct, it is indeed speculation.
Almost all of this whole subforum has been about just that since inception - but it hasn't stopped the comments, diatribes and debate.

Only so much is down to the government you know.

The government do not choose who we buy and sell from; they cannot make companies prepare for change - and they cannot prevent external influences like the weather; disease; and oil prices.
All of which have far more impact upon our day-to-day lives than leaving the EU ever would; see the effects of Covid as just one example.

For now though the ball is firmly in the EU's court.

Congratulations guys, for understanding that europe has bigger fish to fry. The EU published a statement summarizing the meeting of thursday/friday.
Brexit wasn't even mentioned. That concernes an island of no importance.

Remarks by President Charles Michel after the European Council meeting on 15 and 16 October 2020

Yesterday, we had a very long and intense debate on COVID-19. We considered that the situation is unprecedented and very serious. And that is why we are convinced that it is necessary to make more progress in order to coordinate more, to cooperate more between the Member States, especially on tracing, testing, on quarantine and on vaccines. We agreed that on a regular basis, at the level of the European Council, we will continue to tackle this important topic in order to try to be more committed and to make more progress.

We also had yesterday evening the opportunity to tackle climate change. This was an orientation debate in preparation of our meeting in December. We feel more and more support in order to increase our goal for 2030. This is an important step towards 2050. You remember that we have agreed, about one year ago, to make Europe the first continent with climate neutrality, it is our common goal

Good!! hopefully they will keep it that way, because it is like listening to an old warped record when the EU actually do open their mouths spouting the same old spiel.

Do though tell your masters to give Boris a call when they are ready to grow up, I am sure he will fit you in somewhere beetween your own member states desperate to get their own deal with the UK. as well as the world.

You don't seem to understand that if boris cuts the negotiations, he will have to turn up, cap in hand, somewhere next year to beg for re-opening negotiations. He is not prepared to do that, so he will just continue, negotiating come tomorrow.

Dream on.

Again (and again and again until it sinks in if necessary) there is between the two a €90 billion per year surplus.

You will soon see who that affects more when you see Monsiuer Barmier come to the UK cap-in-hand this week.

The UK exports 50% of total exports to the EU, the EU 8% to the UK. Do the maths.
