Absolutely - but it was never a poll tax.

A generalisation, Omah, as you can see.

There are far too many who expand "gossip" into "News" whilst avoiding the responsibility of providing the proof of whatever crime they are making accusations about.

In this particular item, I have yet to see anything which lays out the reality of what has been done by the accused or the council.

It's a good job that I report news then rather than cast aspersions .....

Your first point must be from "The Mirror"!

Your second point should not say that you "report" News when you just cut & paste it.

Your Third and last, points, I do go to Specsavers, and the very large pictures, which, you have copied & pasted, don't prove anything.

Pray tell us what the council decided & what & when they asked him to pay!

However, I repeat that my post was a generalisation.

Re: Dominic Cummings' £30k unpaid council tax bill 'written off'

It is true that we don't have the full facts of the case. Irrespective of how much backdated tax that needs to be paid, what is seemingly true is that when DC went there to recuperate from Covid, he didn't pay council tax then either.

It is an interesting point - since the buildings were built without approval, were they ever on the Council's list of tax eligible buildings? If not, and indeed if they never actually requested for payments to be made, then it's their fault and not the Cummings family. One can easily imagine that the cost of taking this through the courts would be far more than estimated £30-£50k. One can only assume that the Council has considered their own situation and concluded that their case is not strong enough to try.

In response to the claims of "witch hunt", the PM made it clear after the Barnard Castle fiasco that DC was on his final warning. Any potential failing of probity is obviously going to be scrutinised, not only for the downfall of DC but also to test BoJo's resolve.
