Memo to the EU .....

Try to remember when threatening us over E-Gates, we are a sovereign state now and what is good for the Goose is sauce for the Gander. You need to wind your necks back in pronto.

It's laughable isn't it?

If we can arrange a faster entry with north African countries and Turkey (say with a promise they will see a huge increase in UK holidaymakers) then Spain and the rest of the EU will see a huge drop in Britons going for holidays - because the others aren't so far away that extra queueing to get into the EU won't make it a worthwhile swap.

At a time when the holiday industry is seeing huge change anyway because of Covid-19, this really is another example of the EU shooting itself in the foot.

There were 72.5 million trips to the EU in 2019.
How many are the EU willing to sacrifice, together with the money these millions spend.
Every year.
