Any trade deal is reliant upon who needs what on both sides.
Trump is no more pro-UK than Biden is anti-.

That's ignoring Liz Truss who has also assured us that it makes no difference:
"We're working with both parties in the United States, both the Democrats and the Republicans. There is strong support for a trade deal with the UK,"
https://www.usnews.com/news/world/ar...ction-minister
Widely covered in other media too.

FYI we already trade more with the USA than with any other single country.
The talks re a TTP deal - much-advanced and more likely too following our Japan trade deal - would I'm sure provide much more scope for new business than a USA deal anyway.
Hi

I read many sources.

https://www.express.co.uk/news/world...d-trump-latest

I am also aware of our Trade with other Countries.

As regards the current position on TTP.

Hi

Returning to the OP.

Nobody is saying anything, which means we have got down to the serious bits..

I have no idea at all what the reality is.

We will find out in due course.

Not at all - nobody is saying anything because its still not progressing as the EU are still insisting on state aid rules and continuation of the CFP.

If there was a breakthrough either side would be the first to announce it to let the markets react.

You mean you read many sources but ignore the ones that do not fit your bias?

Re: the CPTTP Link - do you not read what you post?
I ask because in the virst few pages it says this:
"Since July 2018, we have engaged with all 11 member countries at both ministerial and official level to explore UK accession to CPTPP. All CPTPP members have welcomed the UK’s interest in accession."

Since the publication we have signed a trade deal with Japan but even before that show of support, Japanese Economy Minister, Yasutoshi Nishimura voiced his country's support for the UK's bid to join the free trade area.

"Years away"?
So you say.
Nobody else does.

Even given that we've been advised there wouldn't be any media releases I think that is true; had there been real developments we would have seen them "leaked" as is the EU's way.

That there have been no such leaks is IMHO very telling.

If so, I assume that we and other EU member states (except the Frogs, of course) will not be allowed to build our own ships.

Is that how it works?

Hi

The Trade Deal with Japan?

Well we already had one as part of the EU.

The one we have negotiated is merely a replacement of the one we had, albeit on worse terms apart from some cheese.

https://www.businessfast.co.uk/uk-ja...d-for-eu-pact/

It also came with a warning from the Japanese about our need to secure a deal with the EU.

The Japan Deal adds 0.07 Percent to our GDP.

Hardly a huge victory.

Re: Anybody seen Barmier ???

Don't believe in "I heard"'s and rumours please.

First remember the recent pledge to change procurement from Ben Wallace the Defence Secretary:
"The Integrated Review is understood to be considering changes to EU-derived rules that prevent the UK from prioritising domestic firms as part of a push to boost the UK shipbuilding industry at the end of the post-Brexit transition
period."
That's from the MOD thread.

So they are planning a change to that.
And second there's this which seems to have got little coverage in the media:
"Britain has formally notified the European Union of its intention to withdraw from the bloc’s military missions by the end of this year, EU officials told envoys on Wednesday"
https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-br...-idUSKBN2761VU

I can't see the government purposely following EU rules here when they are so vocal about not having to follow EU rules post-Brexit, can you?

This is another area where the voting public wouldn't let them without extracting a big price in the way of votes.
