I have different shoes of course. The ones used indoors aren't those worn for the allotment or gardening. The soles are usually fairly clean.
It might be an idea for me to buy another pair of my fave Velcro fastening ones from Shoezone, to wear just indoors! But knowing me, I’d forget and go out in them. I even keep another pair by the back door, for wearing out to the garden, and to the bins.

I can't ever remember a time when I didn't have a pair.

Meg - thank you so much for recommending the Rohde's - they arrived early this morning and are so comfortable I haven't taken them off since! Going to order another pair.

For me, the instant I come through my front door, outdoor shoes are off. Sometimes slippers go on, or I pad about in socks or nothing. But I can’t bear the thought of traipsing about the house with shoes on. Sister has a pair of slippers to put on when she visits, and I ask anyone coming into the house, yes indeed tradespeople, if they wouldn’t mind taking shoes off in the porch. Or I ask if they want overshoe protectors on.

Am I being over fussy? I have new stair carpet, and new rugs dotted about, and vow to keep them clean. But I was always like this in the London flat, and yes, I do wipe Holly’s paws most days.
I am usually in bare feet. Shorts and nothing up top usually complete the look. If it is really hot I substitute the shorts for underpants. Not a good idea to go out in the back garden with the same attire. A neighbour complained once and a 'plastic policeman*' came round and suggested I took a little bit more care. (* support officer).

Don't worry David, I've had the same complaints....
