Jacket potatoes

Probably not that important in the grand scheme of things, but I had a nice jacket potato with beans and grated cheese on top last night, and I ate the lot, skin and all.

This made me wonder . . . are we supposed to eat the skins? Do you?

A good source of fibre and vitamins in potato skins. I never peel them except for when roasting them in goose/duck fat.

Properly cooked skins are the best part of a jacket potato .....

Re: Jacket potatoes

Always eat the skins...best bit. Nice and crispy, gives extra flavour and are very good for you! They used to serve potato skins with dips as a delicacy in restaurants and deli places.

Re: Jacket potatoes

For me the crispy skin of a jacket potato is the best bit & one of the reasons I won't eat frozen, ready baked ones!

Re: Jacket potatoes

Just as an aside....I do microwave mine first, then finish them in a hot oven for about 15 mins. It saves time, and still delicious
