HiI am absolutely convinced that the way forward is to train our own kids in the skills that we need.
It is a total nonsense that we are charging our own kids to train as Nurses, Doctors, Engineers and yet have to import them from other Countries because we have a shortage here.
If they want a degree in Media Studies or Fine Arts, by all means charge them.
If they are training in skills we are short of, the training should be free, only required to work here in the UK for long enough to pay the costs back.

Others that should be charged: theatre studies, social studies, theology, philosophy, dance (yes you can do a degree in dancing!), and not sure about history or English although I think English should be compulsory for all journalists having read some of the appalling spelling and grammar in the DM!
Those that should be paid for by the government: all engineering subjects, most sciences, modern languages, all medical and healthcare studies.
