It's the little ones are deadly .
The sea wasp aka the box jellyfish is one of the most toxic animals in the sea .
luckily it's not found in our waters .
I've pulled jellyfish off my face, arms, and legs many time over the years. Not sure I want to share a surfboard with that one.
Primitively beautiful though, isn't it? Jellyfish have been around for half of a billion years, and are the favorite snack of sea turtles. Some loggerhead is going to need a really big plate for that one!
Well, I am a vegetarian so I think I'll pass but just for the sake of education, how does one prepare jellyfish for dining?
Very carefully - like crabs, some bits are poisonous so they need to be properly cleaned!
They eat them a lot in Asia - especially China. In Japan they actually make Ice Cream from them.
Never really fancied them myself but friends who have say they are OK and take on flavours from whatever they are cooked with. Apparently they have a texture a bit like rubber bands. Never having tried those either - I wouldn't know!
