Yes, and the same holds true for trucks leaving the UK
In the event of a non-agreement*Brexit, all*EORI numbers*granted in the United Kingdom will expire at midnight (Brussels time) on 31 October 2019. Businesses that have an*EORI number*granted by the UK will then have to apply for a new*EORI number*from an*EUMember State.

"If a truck doesn't have the right document we cannot board him. We cannot take lorries across that cannot enter the country," said Gert Jakobson, a spokesman for DFDS, which transports 1.2 million trucks between Dover and Calais and Dunkirk each year.

That was corroborated by a source at a different ferry company, which did not want to comment publicly.

"There's no point in boarding vehicles, because at the other end our French colleagues have told us we won't be allowed to proceed," the source said.

Both companies said the result of this procedure, given many trucks are expected to turn up without the right documentation, was likely to be tailbacks of trucks on the UK side of the channel.

Both French and UK port officials have previously sought to downplay concerns about traffic chaos in the wake of a no-deal Brexit.

In June, the Dover Harbour Board CEO Doug Bannister said "the Port of Dover, as with our sister ports in France and our ferry partners, are prepared for the 31st of October."

And his Calais counterpart Mr Puissesseau, had pointed to the construction of new customs facilities and vehicle holding pens at the French port, saying "there will be no delay" on the French side.

But research by Imperial College London,*commissioned by the BBC, suggested just two minutes of extra check times at UK borders could result in queues extending up to 30 miles from Dover into Kent.

BUT OF COURSE, THIS IS ALL PROJECT FEAR. SO DO NOT WORRIE. GO TO SLEEP AND SWEET DREAMS.

I think that it is obvious that trucking companies will arrange
for the paperwork to be completed at the depot, and for the
trucks to be despatched at intervals that the ports can cope
with, the same as now almost!

So far only 17% of the 240,000 or so businesses which may be affected have registered for an EORI number since October, HMRC says.
In addition HMRC has confirmed it has capacity to sign up 11,000 businesses per day for EORI numbers. However, it usually takes up to three days to get an EORI number and could take longer if there are high volumes of applications, so HMRC advises businesses to apply now.

It should be possible to settle this in advance. Depends on companies having the sense to apply for these papers. UK businesses sensible as they are, I don't have any worries.

Some very encouraging articles there in the Express.

Our remoaners will criticise them and claim they are nonsense, of course. Project Fear lives on!

If, as we all hope, Boris keeps to his word and we are out on 1 November, I fully expect things to continue as they are with very little disruption.

We shall see, of course, but if I'm right I look forward to some whingeing remoaners suddenly being very quiet.
