Re: Respect the remain vote????

Oh dear, we have been round and round this sort of argument for three years yet the Remainers are still going on and on with their sour grapes

About a year ago I heard a comment on a TV discussion about the Referendum that sums up the position in a nutshell -

The problem with democracy is that it requires the losing side to accept the result

As long as they respect the vote Annie and make it clear
it will be a binding vote before they vote, as was done by
Cameron in our referendum! Its OK!

Yes zuludog, it should be an explicit requirement not an
implicit one imo!!

That never happens in a general election. The losing side spends the next four to five years attacking the winning side. This is no different except that the winning side does not like the democratic process and the fact that it never ends at the outcome of a vote. This is democracy.

I have just reread your post Devo, and l can make no
sense of your maths? We had a referendum with a plus
70% turnout, the results of that were 52% for leave and
47% for remain, l leave you to do the maths!
The thirty% who never bothered to vote are only conjecture?

After three years of deaths and comings fo age, that is probably an even bigger discrepancy. So, where is the real democracy? The real democracy is the referendum, where the people of this country were asked to decide whether they wanted to leave or remain in the European Union.

The outcome of that decision would be implemented as confirmed by the government at the time of the referendum and voted through parliament to trigger A50 almost unanimously.

I don't know why after 3 years you still don't understand that ?
