Re: Router.

Have you tried downloading the Apps on 4G? (assuming you have a data allowance) and comparing the results with your network connection?

The posted link above can be used for both types of connection, wired and 4G via the appropriate browser. Compare the results of the network speed with that which is promised, for instance, if you are paying for 30mb (say), does the network speed come anywhere near that?

If the 4G connection is faster, I would suspect the router if you aren't getting anywhere near the promised speed on your network or as Realspeed said, the distance of your phone line to the web server could be a factor. It wouldn't hurt to get the line checked.

Not very fast in the scheme of things and the upload speed is abysmal - not too much different to the old dial-up.

What is your connection speed supposed to be?

Re: Router.

At the time of the test, you were getting 11.69Mbs (Mega bits per second).

Not very fast but passable for a couple of household users who are not looking to live in downloading a lot of movies, etc.

Have a look at this page:-

Second question - how much are you paying for that?

That company deals only with the main providers and takes a "cut" of deals with them .....

Re: Router.

I'm not at all technical - sorry I don't know what speed it's supposed to be.

It costs me £18 a month.

Is your router just supplying your Mobile?

Or do you have PCs on it?

That's pretty good Carol, my download speed is a miserable 2.5mbps and that applies to the rest of the village.

Does that include line rental?
