Safety Harness Size.

I ordered a safety harness for Dageus to go in the back seat of my new car as I find the boot area is not quite big enough for comfort. I ordered the one for a large dog but the blooming thing won't even go over his head. It does say large on the bag but no way is it for a large dog so I will return it today.
Does anyone use these? Can you recommend where to get one to fit him? It will have to be online as there is nowhere up here at the ends of the earth that keeps them, and I'm not due back in Perth for a few weeks yet.

Find a product that is sold by measurements not small medium and large and measure Dageus two or three times before ordering. We find this one best https://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/p...E&gclsrc=aw.ds it's also machine washable for those muddy walks too which is a bonus.

WE use cages for the back of cars, gives the dog a bit of room to move about in, but we do have estate cars so using a cage is no problem.

When we had the Afghan hounds we used a larger cages

Oh the blanket inside has been scrabbled up by Teazle to suit her idea of interior design

Yes with a crv we have a dog guard keeps two in place and a cage for Betty as she gets stood on by naughty Elsie. But roxy doesn't appear to have room for these things so a harness and seat belt are best option for her. Well her dogs not her that looked like I was putting her in a harness not her doggy.

Re: Safety Harness Size.

I had a big Suzuki 4x4 up until a few days ago and Dageus fitted in the tailgate area with a lot of wriggle room. But due to big car problems I'm back with a lot smaller car. Dageus does fit in the Tail Gate but I don't think he had enough room, so I decided to let him have the back seat instead. I have one of the fitting leash things but I don't like the idea of him being held by the neck in the car, so I thought harness with the shoulder fitting.
This is my old car and as you can see there is plenty of room.

Poor old Dageus.

We have a dog guard and one of those boot protectors with bumper strip. For the moment, I have to clip Murtagh's lead to the guard but with enough room to move around safely in the back.

He is booked in for training in about a week and when I spoke to the trainer on the phone, I mentioned about getting a harness but he advised me not to 'go down that road', no idea why he said that but will ask when we see him. Perhaps it's just for training purposes.

Might not help but can you put down the back seats so extending the boot area and put the dog guard behind the front seats ? we can never do it as we have too many passengers but if it's just you and dageus might be an option ?

Re: Safety Harness Size.

Might have to do it that way Julie until I can get sorted out.

I don't have a dog guard as Dageus never ever tried to come over the seats, not even when he was young. He just lies down and sleeps when he's in the car.
