Shetland

Did Anyone Watch the 2 part Detective Programme on Sunday and Monday? I've read a few of the Books about him and it was intersting to see what they did with a TV programme.
It was also weird watching a place on the box that I know so well too..

Here's a wee taste.

Re: Shetland

Yes, we watched it Rox. I thought it was a bit slow at first but enjoyed it.
Do you think it was a pilot two parter? If so, I look forward to more.

Re: Shetland

I watched it too and love Douglas or Dougie to his friends.
I did think it was a little slow though and not enough interesting
characters. I prefer Frost or my fav rave for Scotland Taggart.

Re: Shetland

I didn't like it at all, that's two hours of my life wasted.

Re: Shetland

I watched it for the scenery.
I think uphellyaa was not fully visualised, it was used as a back drop to the detective plot, and it is much more impressive and visceral than that

Re: Shetland

Yes I found it slow too, the books are much better. I stuck with it though as I was curious to see how many places on the Islands they'd show that I knew. The Islands looked lovely but you don't get a sense of what it's really like to be there.

Re: Shetland

It was slow Roxy, we watched the first part, then thought the second part must be better than the first, but it wasn't.

Re: Shetland

I watched it, forgot what happened. So it could not have been that good. There about 3 on at the same time, I probably got them confused.
Shetland, Mayday, and Broadchurch.

Re: Shetland

We haven't had them here in Australia yet but I will look out for them as last year we visited the Shetlands and found them as fascinating as we had anticipated so will enjoy seeing the scenery if nothing else.

Anne Cleeves' (the author) other detective series was "Vera" with Brenda Blethyn.
