Prescription Ordering.

Hi

A fiasco locally.

My GP uses NHS Direct, not a free phone call.

Mine are free to them for an hour, but last month was stung for £14 for having to wait over an hour,

Me too, or we have the POD (a phone call). Either are hassle free, and can be at the pharmacy within days.

So do I Meg & I thought that most doctors surgeries were using that system!

Swim ask your GP if you can order online, it is much easier!
If you can't, then ask him how you can cut the phone cost. You need a lot of medicines and it shouldn't mean that you have such high phone bills to order them.
In some cases you can even get them delivered, which may be handy it you are not well enough to go out to collect them.

Pharmacy2U deliver all prescriptions by post. Can take a little longer than the local pharmacy, but it's free.

I am registered with them, Annie, have been for some time - they run an excellent service. They email me when the next prescription is due just to check that the meds are still the same, then they arrive via the post within 2 - 3 days.

I've heard bad reports on these people Annie, but can't remember why, now.
Even my pharmacy had notices up warning people not to use them.

Aha. Just found this:

" The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has condemned another digital healthcare provider as unsafe, not well led and ineffective.
The CQC has found issues with Pharmacy 2U's patient identification, prescriptions and asthma care."
