Re: My allotment

Planted some sweet corn 2 weeks ago in ground

About half are showing threw.

Took a chance with 4 tomatoes plants and planted out yesterday.

Cumbers are doing well in cold frame but will not put out till end of June.

Garlic is starting to wilt will lift in about another month but don't expect a lot because of the over cast weather we have had.

Nice photos.

My First earlies have not started to flower yet so maybe another month.

Tomatoes plants I planted a couple of days ago show some sign of cold damage but should be all right.

Still to cold at night to plant out the vine type plants.

Other plots have lost their Squishies Pumpkins Cucumbers because of the cold.

Re: My allotment

Scooped soil from my First Earlies and had some nice ones out and left the plant growing.

Picked a massive load of Strawberrys.

Pulled up some onions and a few had White Rot.

Late in the year but from Spain not worth buying you can in Feb not worth it after May if you like English Strawberries

As you say just forming berries as mine are but have been picking for the last two weeks...am more south than you... think it will be a good year for them.

Dug out more Earlies to day...left plants growing.

Re: My allotment

Sick to death of Strawberries have said to the committee to take what they want and sell them also the rhubarb.

Onions and garlic are a disaster most with white rot.

Started eating my Beetroot and and the old wifes tale is true my blood pressure is back to normal without my tablets.

Sowed another row of carrots as first lot was a disappointment.

Planted first lot of Cucumbers night were still a bit cold they seem alright but a bit of leaf damage.

Last year grub out a few Gooseberry bushes because of the Mildew the ones left are showing no sign of it so far Fingers crossed.

With the wet weather the weeds are having a field day.

Re: My allotment

Started to lift some Potatoes and they are massive for this time of year.

On some other Allotments have heard that they are losing theirs because of blight nothing so far on my allotment

So Might dig the lot up this weekend and store them throught the winter.

Weather does not bold well for my tomatoes with the threat of blight.

Re: My allotment

Some advice from a Facebook Allotment site I'm on.

My Onions have been a disaster with white rot ever year I have grown them this year was the worst ever.

Just found out that others water the ground with diluted Jays Fluid to kill the spores.
