Re: A pattern emerges
I think you're all going crazy, get a hobby or something.
Even if you do get out more during the seemingly long winter days like I try to do by going up to the local, all you'll get is complaints by the other old lads, everyone has something special wrong with him, from slack bowels to ingrown toenails, you name it and someone's got it, they would go on for hours about their own individual case if you let them, while the others would be waiting their turn like schoolkids to turn on the misery, indeed I've witnessed one or two with their hands up. I act as a sort of unofficial referee and it's not an easy task, so I had to devise a system, for example, if one of them has developed a new complaint, say an overnight stiffening of the shoulder, they will be allowed ten whole minutes to lay out their case for consideration, when all have listened attentively judgement will be passed and various remedies and cures advised, I give that another ten minutes, noting at the same time that the subject will arise again at the next session, questions like "Did yeh take them pills I told yeh about Jack?", and "Hope you got relief with the deep heat rub Jack, it's your only man for a stiff shoulder" Yes it's a tricky job I do but someone has to do it otherwise there would be chaos. Getting out more is not all it's cranked up to be.
