I only remembered to take it out the freezer about 9 o'clock this morning and will need to cook it in time for 6 o'clock.

I know you can cook from frozen but how about half frozen?

Joy darlin' - bung it in the microwave on 'defrost' for approx 15 minutes - that should do it.

Re: Half Frozen Chicken

Has my title been modded yet?

Well, its in the oven now and it smells good.

I did put it in cold water for a while but when I took it out there was still ice in the cavity. So.......... I poured boiling water into it and it was gone!.

Poor chicken, no giblets, frozen cold and then the innards boiled before being roasted!!!

I don't think anyone will be coming to my house for tea.

I'll let you know how it tastes and whether we survive.

UJ - I thought about the microwave but wasn't sure how long, so didn't bother.

Never thaw meat especialy poultry in hot water as this will allow bacteria to grow on the warm outer surface.!

Re: Half Frozen Chicken

It was only a tiny big of boiling water just to get rid of the last little bit of ice.

Anyway, it turned out very nice and tender and, so far, not had any lasting effect.

Re: Half Frozen Chicken

Don't worry Cheshire Cat, bacteria will not have had any time to grow given that you just poured the water in and then cooked it. Unless, of course, Pats knows of some super new bacteria that grows in an instant!

Glad you enjoyed it!

4 hours later and I'm still OK. So I'm not going to start worrying about it now.
