Old fashion dumpling mix

Came across this old dumpling mix recipe i tried it and the dumplings are really nice large and fluffy in fact just like my old mum use to make.

2 Cups plain flour
1 Tbs Baking soda
1 Tsp salt
1 Egg
1 Cup milk

Add to stew and cook for 10 minutes covered then 10 minutes uncovered. Hope you enjoy as i did.

I never make dumplings but shouldn't they have suet in them? Your recipe sounds like " healthier ones"

Yes, I like a sprinkling of mixed herbs in mine too, Nom.
I like to cook 'em in the oven, then leave the casserole lid off for a while so they get nice crispy on top. Yummy.
