When I stayed with farming friends in Gloucestershire they ate jam with their stew and dumplings I thought they were having a joke at first but they weren't

I'm making dumplings today

Got a nice bit of shin here and a cheats bag of casserole veg ( saves the chopping ) so it's got to be stew and dumplings.

Yes they're so easy to make. I use Atora vegetable suet.
They're lovely.

I'm going to try Docs recipe though.

Have removed rabbit from freezer, and will be making rabbit stew with suet dumplings later this morning (NO not with vegetarian suet - but PROPER suet!!!).


In the meantime have defrosted smoked gammon joint and while stew is cooking will stud gammon with cloves and smother with honey and whole grain mustard and roast in oven.

Bacon sarnies and piclked onions - delicious!!!
