Getting well laid

This property was an early 80's design and build.
Our client bought it with the intention of an internal refurb.

Then decided to knock down the external walls and replace the outer skin with new brickwork. This was originally our only involvement, laying the brick.

Unfortunately the main contractor went bust so we took on the entire project.

Just been out on site to check that everything that needed doing(yesterday)was done.

Tomorrow the joiners return to start fitting the roof timbers ready for tiling, then the Windows will be fitted.

Once the build is water and weather tight the internal phases will begin.

All being well we will complete by the end of July.

No Tpin, I read the title and said to myself, 'here's another one heading for the trash can!'

Re: Getting well laid

Well, I've not had one sent to the trash can, so please explain "another"

Bricks are laid, we lay them well.....what the hell is your problem?

I've been very polite in my responses to pathetic attempts to derail my threads and I'd like to keep it that way, so may I suggest you ignore my topics and stop trying to spoil my interaction with other members, members who seem to enjoy forum participation without the need to complain?

Re: Getting well laid

Why didn't they just knock it down and build a new one?
People down the road from me have done something similar and it's taking ages.
Does it cost less? How do you join the brick work to the internal structures?
I need to know these things!

Re: Getting well laid

there's no need for planning permission, just building regs.

The footings already exist so no need for excavation or concrete.

There's less removal as there's not as much in the way of demolition site clearance.

It can work out a lot cheaper.

The build looks totally different to the original even though it's basically the same shape.
