Police attacked as Bristol protests turn violent

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-56477887

"Protesters have clashed with police after thousands of people turned up to a demonstration officers had "strongly advised" against attending.
Officers suffered suspected broken bones as angry scenes unfolded in Bristol city centre
..."

What is wrong with the world today, haven't we got enough to worry about already without these riots everywhere.

Re: Police attacked as Bristol protests turn violent

I saw this on my local news as well as the national news, the protestors who led the peaceful protest in the day did say they weren't connected to the violent thugs who took it upon themselves to damage police property and police staff - but thats the problem these events get hijacked by idiots who just want to fight, they dont care in whose name.

I wouldn't be surprised if was the same hooligans who pulled down Edward Colston's statue and threw it in the harbour last year, were amongst that crowd.

This took place under 2 miles away from where we live. A bit too close for comfort.

I can totally understand how you must be feeling, I know im much further away in Wiltshire but its unusual to have this kind of thing in the south west.

They have no respect for people or their property its disgusting, I feel for the police and business owners/home owners in that area who's property has been damaged or looted

Have often stated that criminals need to pay for the costs that their misdemeanours cause. Police and court times, cost of incarceration, cost of repair of damaged items, cost of replacement of goods etc.

This could include taking any money or property they own. force the sale of their homes etc etc, plus having to do some meaningful employment when in prison which can generate money towards their debt.

I dont understand why the army cant help , why are water cannons filled with dye not brought in. It dumfounds me there is no other help for the police . Can you immagine how those officers feel going to work knowing they have to face these thugs .

Why do we have military forces yet cant help our officers keep the peace
