You can make quite similar arguments for not only much of Europe but for much of the Western world so the UK is no more punching above it's weight than all the rest.
And as for other regimes ...........
But that is an argument better-suited to a devoted thread.

We're already seeing a new industrial revolution and I suspect that post-covid we will see changes gather pace.
We are fortunate in the UK in that we are a hugely inventive and creative nation.

If we're able to grasp the opportunities proffered as a result of Brext too we could - COULD - see the UK enter a new era of prosperity.

I agree - and the reaction to RECP from both the EU and the USA is going to be especially interesting.

In recent years China along with others like North Korea, Iran and Russia have been able to stay one step ahead in many areas.
Given current global upset I'm hoping that is not portentous.

There should be massive sanctions on China - not just for breaching WTO rules on competition laws and spreading coronavirus, but also on the wholesale IPR theft of technology including the USA/UK space program, 5 and 6G etc etc.

Oh... and let's not forget Hong Kong

Plus the other stuff like building islands in the South China Sea & declaring them in their waters when they aren't; the genocide of Uighers; and far more besides.
But the rest of the world lets them get away with it - did we not learn anything at all from events which led tio two world wars?
