home improvements question

If you have moved house what did you have to do to get it as you would like it?

WE moved in 5 years ago

here is a list of what was needed here and done.

New chimney pot cowling, didn't have one
replaced 4 tv aerials with one and sat dish
replaced guttering where needed
removed plant growing into loft and a couple of trees
got rid of 2 log storage racks
replaced one log storage rack with greenhouse
new garden gate , was unsecured metal small ornamental one
Front door porch replaced underside of canopy roof
replaced doorbell push
new electric garage doors
extrnl door light to work
ripped out bad wiring (lighting in garage and rewired) demolished old work benches and replaced with proper ones
new house number sign
made and replaced wood studs on front house face beams
new garage security approach lighting
new drainage grid for garage gutter
made yale lock to fit recess
new door knob and letterbox
filed in where old cat flap in back door was and porch back door

moved door bell as cable under carpet
new hall stairs and landing carpet
New conservatory above dwarf wall
Had chimney swept before it caught alight
complete new bathroom
complete new ensuite
retile downstairs cloakroom window ledge
all windows sorted so they opened/locked a they should
redecorated all rooms throughout
new Boiler
replace leaking rads where necessary and had heated towel rails in bathroom/en suite
New lights in ensuite
shaver socket lights to work
replace ensuite mirror (nibbled to fit) with new right size one
new range cooker
Got utility power sockets to work (washing machine and spin dryer)
removed under carpet mains cable in bedroom to socket on landing
new lounge and hall lights repainted fire wood surround

that is all I can think of at the moment, so what have you had to do? before anyone asks why buy the house, it had potential to make nice and increase the value considerably
Nice quite situation with huge garage and drive for at least four cars. End of cal- de- sac so no traffic passing and no car lights shining into windows

Re: home improvements question

We moved in here 30 years ago, had a new kitchen and bathroom, and had a plumber friend fit a new central heating system, all the other stuff has been ongoing, had the bathroom redone a couple of years ago, but the kitchen is looking tired so that might be next

Re: home improvements question

I would in all honesty buy a house that all the things done , apart from just a few odds & ends . Couldn"t be doing with living in a mess all the time .

Re: home improvements question

We've lived in our house 12 years and we had a new bathroom fitted about 5 years ago. I need a new kitchen and could do with new carpets upstairs but money is an issue so I'll just keep what I have clean and it'll have to do. I would love a new kitchen. Mind you, we are talking of moving and downsizing so we can retire so I don't know if I want to spend the money (if we had it that is!)

Your house is lovely what I've seen, I'd love to come and have a nosey lol

Re: home improvements question

We moved a few months ago. The house in lovely condition. The only thing we have done is replace the built in dishwasher - cheaper than repairing the original.

Re: home improvements question

We've been in this bungalow for 20 years during which time I've worked on, renewed (or had renewed) most bits of it.

Even structurally, walls have been knocked out, room layouts have been redesigned and an extension built on the front. The most recent thing was a new lavatory and basin in the wet-room.

Apart from that, it's all pretty much the same as when as we moved in.
