Question Time

How refreshing to watch last night's episode which was not predominantly focussing on Brexit or Megxit!

There was some interesting and civilised discussion, but I wonder if the comments made by the first speaker of the evening (broadcaster and businessman Trevor Philips), when addressing knife crime, would have been accepted if he had been white?

He gave a concise summary of where he felt the problem lay, stating that the problems mainly affected disenfranchised black youths, but I noticed that several of the black members of the audience did not applaud his comments.

He's probably right Tango, but it seems to be an elephant in the room just lately for fear of being called a racist.

Re: Question Time

The panel seemed stunned by his graphic description of the level of violence in knife attacks. People stabbed in the anus which had left them having to wear a colostomy bag.

One woman talked of the trauma of witnessing a stabbing but having no counselling for the stress it has caused.

A police officer quoted Sir Robert Peel, “The Police are the Public; the Public are the Police”, after another panel guest described asking an officer at the scene of an incident what had happened, only to feel that the officer was not interested in what she had to say.

Re: Question Time

I watched QT for years but had to give up on it, so the odd unbiased episode would be missed by me.

Re: Question Time

On at 8.00 tonight with a virtual audience, and what a difference that made. Panel were able to discuss without interruption, no political arguing. This format likely to continue for now.

It was much better, without the audience,
and I wasn't falling asleep!

Re: Question Time

I don't think it was the lack of audience that made a difference to QT tonight it was more down to having a panel that wasn't political point-scoring all the time.

Oh, I don't know about that. The bit that I watched saw one of the panel making a comment about why the lower paid weren't being helped financially first implying that the government were being tardy in their response to the crisis while seemingly ignoring the magnitude of the problem and any actions being carried out were for the benefit of the majority.

Re: Question Time

Only two were politicians, without the audience questions and answers were clear and precise. Like Biffo, kept awake and watched the entire show.
