Vale Dave Brubeck

I heard on the wireless this morning that Dave Brubeck had died. Everybody must know his Take Five or Blue Rondo a la Turk

He would have been 92 tomorrow.

Re: Vale Dave Brubeck

I remember Dave Brubeck although I wasn't really a jazz fan. He had a good innings at 91!

RIP Dave ....

That great jazz pianist Dave Brubeck has died aged 91. His version of "Take Five" will live for ever.

Re: Vale Dave Brubeck

Take Five was actually written and mainly played by Paul Desmond, who died some years ago and seems to have been forgotten despite his massive contribution to the Dave Brubeck Quartet.

Re: Vale Dave Brubeck

Dave Brubeck - Simply one of the best musicians of all time and so far ahead in his thinking, almost no one (apart from the other members of his quartet) could emulate his timing.

I once had every record he ever released and for me his 'Pick Up Sticks' number equals his 'Take Five' and 'Blue Rondo' I still can not stop my foot tapping when I listen to it.

A sad day and IMO no one will ever come close in the jazz world.

Not forgotten by me, his name is on many of the LP sleeves I still have.
