Re: Interesting Cars

I always had a soft spot for the Jensen Interceptor - what a great name for a car as well!
Loved the Corvette Stingrays as well (and another great name).

Most reliable / toughest / bulletproof car I ever owned though, was a Volvo 245 GLT estate. It wasn't boring either. Very nice to drive and had a decent bit of punch.

Hi

Yes, remember it quite well.

I was brought up in Huddersfield, where David Brown was born.

The DB in Aston Martins stands for David Brown, he owned David Brown Tractors, the factory was in Meltham, Huddersfield, later sold to the Americans, when it became Case Tractors.

He bought Aston Martin as a hobby.

I used to go fishing, well poaching actually, as a lad in the reservoir there.

If you like Volvo, perhaps the rare 1978 262C Bertone Coupe will excite you as much as it excites me.

I never knew that.
The 1977 Vantage is, in may opinion, one of the finest designed cars of all time.

Re: Interesting Cars

The Citroën BX is most certainly a lovely car with an innovative design …..

BUT did you know that Bertone drew it originally for Volvo? It was to be called the Volvo 343 Tundra. Sweden said, “No thanks!” A mistake, thinks I.

That's quite nice - liking the silver one.

I also liked the P1800, as used in "The Saint"

They were monsters. You could feel the ground rumbling when you stood next to one. A real classic.

Yes, the P1800. Here in ”little”, very internationally unsophisticated Sweden, Roger Moore is an all-time favourite actor for the simple reason he drove the P1800 in the TV series!

Even standing perfectly still it rumbles! I've only seen one in real life and I was very much impressed.
