Tesla driver banned for M1 autopilot seat-switch

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...herts-43934504

Bhavesh Patel, 39, of Alfreton Road, Nottingham, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at St Albans Crown Court.

A witness in another car filmed him sitting in the passenger seat of his Tesla S 60 on the M1 between junctions 8 and 9 near Hemel Hempstead.

Patel said he was the "unlucky one who got caught", the court was told.

Patel was disqualified for 18 months and must do 100 hours of unpaid work.

He was also told to pay the Crown Prosecution Service costs of £1,800.
That punishment isn't steep enough for such a reckless act and the arrogant driver will probably ignore the ban anyway .....

What an idiot. It also raises the question of driverless cars again because if the government has their way, we will all be doing it sooner or later.

There is talk of legislation making drivers of automated vehicles having to be ready to take control, in the event of something happening, so no reading papers or such, pretty pointless to have a driverless car then!
