More EU greed with Horizon research funding
Another example of EU greed comes as the Horizon 2020 research programme morphs into Horizon Europe.
The Horizon programmes is a collaboration of research and innovation between "European" scientists.
Note please that the EU purposely calls it "Europe" and not "EU".
Well fine - the UK is in Europe, right?
Well yes sure - except the EU in effect want us to cough up £3 billion for the "privilege"!
"“In order to receive an equivalent to £15bn in receipts, we need to win 16% of funding from the programme. We currently will win 12.7%, so that implies that even if we continue to participate at the current level, there would be a net contribution over the life of the programme’s seven years at about £3bn. Now, even we think that doesn’t look fair, and we’ve been saying to our European counterparts.”

Is this another example of EU intransigence; another example of EU willingness to shoot itself in the foot?
Such discrimination harms both sides (and the wider world) because the UK are recognized globally for their innovation, which this programme is supposed to promote.
