Re: Death Of The High Street?

The High Street was doomed as soon as they started building shopping malls, with free convenient parking, a department store together with every shop you need and a choice of supermarket all in one place .

However with on line shopping the malls themselves are having to reinvent themselves before they go the same way as the High Street.

High Streets have to likewise reinvent themselves but it takes some imagination and a lot of luck to be successful, most are not and become rundown wastelands of empty shop fronts.

Re: Death Of The High Street?

My son said to me that when he is my age there wont be town centres as the younger ones all shop online . He would never go onto town to shop . Yet I like going on the bus for a few hours window shopping and having a coffee .

Our town has 13 closed shops now . Our main store Debenhams is selling off stock and I'm sure will close down . Ours is a ghost town already .

How will our country help the unemployed ? What work will they do . All such a worry

I think your son is right. And older people too - my self included.
