Rolls owned now by BMW and Land Rover by Tata.
Range Rovers etc are still the unreliable junk they've always been though. Even under new management they can't get them right. Gimme a Toyota or Lexus anyday.

So it matters not any more if you are rolls Royce Ferrari or bmw as all your development work ... throw it in the bin ... all your new model ideas ... bin ... your projected sales figures ... bin ... investment plans ...bin ..
The motor industry something that has evolved over a century of customer wants and needs with a few dreams thrown in has ended and electric is the way forward .
The companies know deep down EVERYONE isn’t going to rush out to buy a brand new car and that electric cars in the real world simply can’t compete for range and ease of ownership so they stop investing however new car companies will pop up like Tesla and I imagine lots of others too but governments and lack of thought and joined up thinking killed car industry . Good news for the 3rd world however as they will continue unhindered and mobile
Totally agree mate,

What also pees me off is the fact that the Government initially were pushing people into buying diesel - many people did, but now they're the worst thing ever and owners are being penalised for something the government encouraged.
It's a bloody disgrace.

Re: Honda plant closure

Car manufacturers like to plan years ahead ..they develop and invest in a car an engine then usually make it 5 years down the road , update it after 3 years and try for a five year or more life cycle ...

Now with electric cars ( something they actually know little about ) these things like laptops are out of date by tomorrow , by the time you’ve designed it ... it’s too old ... how can you build a production line for a technology you know nothing about , customers don’t want , knowing by the time you’ve made the prototype technology will render it useless ..
The motor industry died the day we banned diesels and petrol engines the European beautocrats killed the golden goose themselves

I go to the Isle of Man TT races every year and even there we have a ZERO RACE ... electric bikes and yes they are fast , cutting edge technology and all that ... but they race for just one lap !!! ... now that will catch on won’t it !!! Here’s your new Ducati pal and don’t go more than 36 miles !!! Oh and you owe me £90,000 !

The government pushed diesel for the low co2, but overlooked the fact that the Nox particulates, were very high

But British engineering and superb in their heyday. It was bad management not poor design that ruined it all

Re: Honda plant closure

My wife has a Honda Civic estate and pays no road tax as this 1600cc engine has very low pollution. So diesels still have a place on our roads
