Jailed Fiona Onasanya set to become first MP to wear an electronic tag

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politi...ecome-13940064

A legal expert told the Mirror Onasanya is likely to serve just four weeks behind bars and another two under “home detention curfew” - the scheme where low-risk offenders are tagged and must stay in their house between certain hours.

It paves the way for the trained solicitor to return to Parliament and take part in crunch Brexit votes with the bracelet around her ankle.

However, the MP could also see her prison sentence increased after complaints it was too soft.
Attorney General Geoffrey Cox will have to move fast and firmly .....

Peterborough MP to appeal against conviction

A MP jailed for lying about a speeding offence is appealing against her conviction, the Commons has been told.

Commons Speaker John Bercow said he had received a letter saying Ms Onasanya's appeal will be heard on 5 March.

It is not known on what grounds Ms Onasanya is applying to appeal.
That's TWO appeals in progress .....

I believe she is appealing on the grounds she was caught lying and as an MP that has never been seen as a problem in the past

I would have thought it would be a requirement of the job for a future politician to lie through their teeth.

So, will the the unduly lenient sentence scheme be actioned first ..... ?

If it does and, say, increases Onasanya's sentence to 12 months, will her appeal have to be rescheduled ..... ?

If the unduly lenient sentence scheme awaits the outcome of Onasanya's appeal, will they discard their proceedings if the appeal court increases her sentence or continue with it if, in some way, the appeal is upheld ..... ?

In any case, Onasanya will be (probably) tagged and out of prison in 2 weeks time .....

Re: Fiona Onasanya

I'm wondering if the review body are waiting for the outcome of the appeal - if so, then Onasanya will be parading in Parliament .....

Re: Fiona Onasanya

According to the Peterborough Telegraph, who contacted the Court of appeal on 21/2, no appeal date has been set for Fiona Onasanya, despite John Bercow telling the HoC that it was March 5.

Additionally, time runs out for the Attorney General to review Onasanya's sentence on Tuesday, 26/2.
