jewellery

I have a beautiful ring I bought many years ago , cost a fortune it was £1000. I never wear it , in fact I rarely wear jewellery yet I have a lot of bits and bobs I do wear ear studs in my pierced ears otherwise I've got two holes showing ! I've tried to give the expensive ring to daughter but she's not interested , I really must make myself wear it again as it's pretty 5 princess cut diamonds . Do you have nice things you don't wear ?

Re: jewellery

I have never been very interested in jewellery . I have an ammonite set in silver which I wear as a pendant most of the time. I no longer wear earnings or even my wedding ring
I have always hated gold and only ever wore silver except for my wedding ring.

Re: jewellery

Had a flyer through the letterbox saying there is a free scrap jewellery valuation in the village church hall on Wednesday. When does jewellery become scrap, it can become Crap, when it loses it's emotional connection, but Scrap, that don't add up.

I have seen those Paul, they just pay for the weight of the metal not the workmanship involved.

Re: jewellery

susan surely it would be the easiest thing in the world to wear your ring next time you get dressed up.

In answer to your question - no I don't have nice things I never wear...

Re: jewellery

If you never wear the ring, and your daughter doesn't want it, why not sell it? Get a few estimates first though - and spend the cash on something you do want and can get pleasure from. There's no point keeping it in a drawer.

Yes, I've got a few valuable and beautiful pieces which I wear.

Re: jewellery

I have far too much jewellery .. inexpensive and 'proper stuff' ... love it.

There's nothing ridiculously expensive, but definitely worth keeping to hand down through the generations and if I needed to, I guess it would raise a bit of dosh.

I always wear earings ... second-hand, inexpensive dangly ones are my current favourites and I like to wear Mum's and grandmother's wedding rings together on my right hand.

i also have a liking for garnets but find diamonds too showy these days ... so there you are. I'm fairly easy to please

Get a valuation, Susan but I'd be inclined to keep it. Your daughter could always sell it at a later date, when hopefully, it will have increased in value.

Re: jewellery

My husband delights in giving me jewellery. Mostly silver and slightly art deco style which I love but I dont feel I have the occasion to wear it.
We dont socialise much so any chance I get I dust it off and wear it..
