My MP Owen Paterson

Hi

Unusual for me to post a link to The Mirror, but here goes.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news...an-put-7551536

The story is somewhat sensationalised, however it is true.

He is an extreme right wing Tory, and he is not alone, there are others.

He was a Cabinet Minister, then sacked.

He is very pro Brexit and has set up a Think Tank, funded by around £20 million in donations from other far Right Donors.

He has an agenda, he wants us out of Europe because he sees it as Socialist, he wants to abolish the Minimum Wage and slash Benefits and Services much further.

Market Forces Rule is his mantra, as is people should stand on their own two feet.

Brexit to him means that the minimum wage will go, we need to be more competitive he says, that means driving down costs.

He wants contracts to be zero hours and redundancy payments abolished.

We need to give employers more flexibility he says, redundancy is not needed, a good worker will never be out of a job.

A man with very definite views.

Unfortunately he is not alone in his views and if they get in when Cameron goes, there will be a backlash and we could end up with Corbyn.

What a choice.

Ahhhh its finally sinking in - just how ridiculous these 'nasty party' members are. I have to ask though, just what planet does he live on???

He'd get very short shrift from me and would be wearing my walking stick in a very uncomfortable and painful place and would be left with a pronounced limp.

Re: My MP Owen Paterson

I think we need to take this piece for what it is, an article in the Daily Mirror. As such it will have been grossly exaggerated and spun to suit their left wing leanings. Does anyone really think that most moderate Conservatives would vote for that? I certainly don't. This is the Group who constantly denied having anything to do with phone hacking yet were up to their necks in it.

The fact that the Independent reveals it is mentioned in a book by David Laws speaks volumes

Hi

Finally sinking in?

I do not and never have had any time for the extremists be they extreme left or extreme right.

I am an extremist myself I suppose, an extreme moderate.

Simple view, you work for a living, pay your taxes and make sure those taxes go to those who cannot work, not those who choose not to.

Maybe he was joking you know what the press are like every casual comment is picked up on.

I don't mind picking fruit, I do it already. A lot of strawberries are now grown under cover and in baskets on benches making them easy to pick.

I am sure there are many pensioners like me who wouldn't mind doing a bit of fruit picking if it helps the country while we find our feet after leaving the EU.

We could have more pick your own farms, many disappeared with the advent of cheap labour from the EU and the one I used is always packed with people and the fruit very expensive because there is little competion .

Also the unemployed could do friuit picking, better out in the fresh air than sitting at home doing nothing.

It would do you a world of good UJ to get out of that chair of yours and into the fresh air to do something for the country which supports you instead of sitting there looking for things to criticise all the time .

Re: My MP Owen Paterson

Hi

No, the man is not joking, he is deadly serious.

He has a nice majority and there are others of his ilk around, that is why he got the funding for his Think Tank.

He is not the only extreme right winger to have held a Cabinet Post either, we have Duncan Smith as well, no votes for the unemployed and under 25s.

We may think that they are as mad as hatters, but then who would have thought that Corbyn, a Marxist, would be leader of the Labour Party.

I would never vote for either of them, but there are those who do.

Hi

I didn't start this thread for it to descend yet again into insults and personal criticisms.

I am very disappointed that it has.

I may start one on Pansies or Violas?

That is the choice I have today in my garden.

The way things are, no doubt someone will get upset about that as well.

No criticism of you Meg, you have a job to do.

Gibbs He can't be all bad then if he wants to use his money and that of others to get us out of the EU that is fine by me.

As or the fruit picking , I may be wrong but wasn't that something voiced years ago and not in the context of if we leave the EU ..

Conservative MP Owen Paterson wanted to get pensioners to pick fruit for less than the minimum wage when he was Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, according to a forthcoming book by a Coalition Government colleague.

Mr Paterson suggested the idea to the Cabinet in 2013 to help cut immigration, the book by David Laws, who was a Liberal Democrat minister at the time, claims.

I am still happy to pick fruit if it helps get my country back
